use OAuth
UPDATE 2
We have made a breakthrough. OAuth does look possible now. We will keep you posted with latest developments. Thanks to Wouter van Vliet for the useful link to Iran Election.

UPDATE
Twitter’s API does not support file transfer using OAuth. Therefore we can get users’ avatars from their Twitter profiles, we just can’t put them back with the Twibbons on top. We are still trying to find a way to fix this, but unfortunately, for this reason, we cannot offer OAuth support at this time. Apologies.

We’ll have an option added very soon when you type in your login details whether or not you wish to use OAuth.
Thanks,
The Twibbon Team

Shouldn't it be possible for the user to login using oAuth, and then just pull the profile image from the public profile. I don't see a need for this having to be an authenticated request.
(these ppl are doing it: http://helpiranelection.com/)

Twitbbon is an interesting concept but until you use Oauth I don't think many smart people would use it.

Agree, OAuth will give more trust in the app...

I think it's an absolute requirement for a powerful service such as Twibbon to take advantage of the most secure way of conecting accounts.
